Texas Longhorns Football-Moving Forward

http://bleacherreport.com/articles/653735-texas-longhorns-back-to-the-future-horns-looking-ahead-with-energizing-spring

Following this spring my beloved longhorns looked somewhat energized but unfortunately there is still so much room to grow.

new coaches: with Manny Diaz and Harsin taking over

The Horns Defense is looking solid Diaz is stepping right in and should be able to get the most out of them. much like last year our DE's are looking solid but our secondary looks to be interesting especially with the addition of diggs and viccaro bring a a whole new style of physically. and the Linebackers should be amongst our strongest and deepest we've had for years. unfortunately like last year the biggest weakness we have is in the DT- the real question is whether or not Howell, Bible, Cedric Reed, Quincy Russell, or Desmond Jackson can step up and help Kheeston Randall hold the middle together long enough for our guys like Jeffcoat, Wilson, and Okafor to blow up the play.

The real questions are in the offense. First and foremost the one that has been on the forefront of everyone's minds is the QB battle whether Gilbert, McCoy, and Brewer will step up and take charge. Unfortunately up to this point none of them has taken that step forward. Gilbert still isnt panning out the way he needs to, McCoy's throwing form needs a lot of work even though  he did put up some good stats in the spring game and it seemed as if Brewer wasnt given enough of a chance. The second major question is can the O-line play to its potential and exceed it. Up to this point they have been beyond underwhelming. And they are beyond needed to step up with a new sense of physicality and attitude. As far as the skill players UT is loaded, with mike davis stepping up, desean hales, darius white the next shipley coming in, malcolm brown, fozzy and cody johnson

So all in all while I didnt go into too much detail for the team I believe the Horns will be up to a 9-4 football team, with a new sense of energy and with new coaches and thankfully a new strength and conditioning coach who is hands on with the players in Bennie Wylie. It may take a few years but the Horns will make it back to BCS form in time. The real question is will it  be fast enough for the fan base.

more on this in time

News of the day

Well as most of you all heard Jim Tressel has stepped down from Ohio State. Personally I think this process took way to long and after all this information came to light it was only a matter of time before it happened

Intro

Hey Guys,

My name is Austin  and I will up front say i am an avid longhorn fan. While that may be the case I wont let it detract from the focus that this will be about sports for the most part. Another thing you need to know about me is that I am just an avid sports guy in general some of my friends call me almanac because of that.  As my blog title implies sometimes I will talk about other things but this will be about sports. If you ever have an thoughts or ideas you want me to look into or write about let me know.
